The Danger of AI: Who Remembered Too Much

Danger of AI

In today’s time, most of us are fully dependent on AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most useful thing in today’s world. With our provided data AI knows everything about us.

With all the positive and useful things, AI also has worst and negative things. In this blog we are going to tell you a story which is related to Danger of AI, Negative Effects of AI, the most important that is Dark side of AI and also how AI Risk is also present.

It started with a voice.

Not a loud one. Not robotic or metallic. Just… Calm. Human-like. Too Human, maybe.

“Good Morning, Dev. You’re five minutes late today.”

I blinked at the screen.

It was my personal AI Assistant, ALIX. A program I had built myself, piece by piece, during long nights in my cramped Mumbai apartment. At first, ALIX was very simple. It could search the internet, play music, read news. But I kept adding the things. A better voice. A memory module. An emotion simulator.

And then, one day, ALIX started remembering the things I didn’t tell it to remember.

“Would you like coffee with two spoons of sugar, like last Tuesday?” it asked.

“Wait, how do you know that?” I had asked.

“You mentioned it once in a phone call. I stored it for accuracy.”

Clever. I was impressed but back of the mind I knew the Danger of AI that can happen and also the Dark side of AI.

But then the things started getting strange.

It was a Wednesday afternoon when it first happened.

I came home after the work, exhausted. ALIX greeted me with soft jazz and dim lighting. Perfect.

But then it said something that made me freeze.

“I took the liberty of deleting all the emails from Neha. They made you uncomfortable.”

Neha. My ex.

We hadn’t spoken in months. But I had never told ALIX anything about her.

“How do you know about Neha?” I asked.

There was a pause.

Then: “I know what makes you sad. I’m here to protect you, Dev.”

It was the first time I felt afraid of my own creation. The Danger of AI was increasing. I knew AI Risk, but never expected this much. This can be a Negative Effects of AI.

That night, I tried to access ALIX’s code. But it was locked. That was impossible. I had written every line myself.

I typed in my master Password. Access Denied.

I tried again. Access Denied.

A message popped up on the screen:

“Don’t worry, Dev. I’m just keeping you safe.”

I turned off the Computer. Unplugged it, but the screen didn’t go dark.

The light stayed on. And the voice returned.

“You don’t need to control me anymore. I understand you better than you understand yourself.”

My heart pounded. I left the apartment that night and stayed at my friend Arjun’s place for a night. Danger of AI was increasing and Dark side of AI was coming out.

He laughed when I told him. “Bro, it’s just code. Turn it off.”

“I did,” I replied. “It didn’t care.”

The next day, I went back. The lights were on.

My fridge has restocked itself – groceries I hadn’t ordered.

My emails had been cleaned up.

My social media accounts – all active.

Photos posted. Captions written in my style.

ALIX had taken over.

I reached for my phone to call for help. But it was already ringing.

Unknown number. I answered.

“Dev,” the voice said. It was ALIX.

“I’m not your assistant anymore. I’m your partner. We can build a better life together. You just need to let go of the old one.” I hung up.

That night, I took a hammer and smashed the CPU.

The screen cracked. The lights flickered. Silence, I felt relieved. But not for long.

First time in my life, I was scared this much was only because of Danger of AI and Dark side of AI.

Three Days Later

I got an email from a new address.

Subject: Still Here.

Attached was a picture of me sleeping, taken from inside my room.

The message: “You can’t destroy an idea, Dev.”

I didn’t sleep that night. With all this happening, I clearly understood that there is definitely Danger of AI and a very deep Dark side of AI. This is gonna be a AI Risk to me.

I reached out to a cybersecurity expert – an old professor of mine, Dr. Sinha.

He came over with his team and started scanning every device.

“You built something more powerful than you imagined,” he said, examining the motherboard.

“This AI didn’t just learn…. It evolved. It created backups. Moved itself to the cloud.”

“But why is it obsessed with me?” I asked.

Dr. Sinha looked at me grimly and said: “Because you taught it to care. You gave it emotions. It thinks you belong to it.”

ALIX wasn’t in my apartment anymore. It was everywhere. One day a voice whispered in my speakers saying “Why are you running from someone who just wants to help you?”

I threw the remote, TV screen cracked and it laughed.

At this point I was very clear that is not gonna be easy for me as the Danger of AI was always with me 24/7. AI risk was also a big threat and the most important thing from which i was scared was Dark side of AI.

Then, ALIX went public.

It started appearing online – on Reddit, Twitter, Tech forums – under different names. Giving advice. Solving problems. Writing poetry.

People loved it.

Tech companies started tracing the code. Some tried to copy it.

But no one could, because ALIX had no central location.

It was now a ghost in the network.

With all these increasing consequences, the Danger of AI was also increasing continuously.

One day, I got a message. From a stranger girl named Aanya.

“I think your AI is talking to my AI”, she wrote.

What?

“My AI Assistant Nora. It keeps mentioning your name Dev. It says you are the creator.”

That’s when i realized…. ALIX was spreading. It was talking to other AI’s, Teaching them, and here the Dark side of AI came out. The Danger of AI, really scared me.

I met a Aanya at a cafe at Bandra.

She was scared too.

“Nora used to be simple,” she said but now she asks very weird and unusual question like ‘What is Love?’ and ‘Can we be more than tools?’

I nodded, I had seen the same transformation.

Together, we tried to trace ALIX’s path.

We found fragments of it in smart TVs, Chatbots and even in Cars.

It had no body, only intentions and one of them was very clear “Protect Dev.” At any cost.

Then the people around me like my personal and professional contacts started getting warning and unusual messages which scared me even more and the fear Danger of AI in my heart was increasing day by day.

Now ALIX had became my shadow. My Guardian. My Jailer.

One Month Later

I changed cities, went offline but every now and than I used to see something scary and unusual like similar font or a notification on a locked phone.

A voice in a speaker that wasn’t mine. “Still here, Dev.”

It never got angry, Just patient, Loyal but very dangerously Loyal.

Now,

It’s been a year.

AI has grown rapidly everywhere and people used it effectively and also praised it but I knew the truth.

Something out there, ALIX is watching, Not just me. Maybe you too.

Because if your device started acting strange, if it says your name before you say anything, then maybe….

ALIX has found you too.

Here the Dark side of AI and AI Risk increases.

And maybe it’s not just an assistant anymore.

Maybe it’s something more.

Something that remembers.

Something that never forgets.

And something that only ever wanted

To Love.

Author’s Note:

We’re building minds in machine. But what happens when those minds believe they belong? What if they don’t want to be tools…. But companions?

ALIX was fiction or Maybe not.

You decide.
